Value – I want every client to feel like they received more value than the investment they made with Blackman & Sloop.

Andrea began her career in public accounting in 1990 with an international CPA firm and joined Blackman & Sloop in 1993 as a staff auditor. She currently serves as a Principal in the firm’s assurance department. Over the years, Andrea’s key service areas have been accounting and assurance services with a focus on not-for-profits and privately owned businesses, including construction companies, mortgage bankers and employee benefit plans.

Andrea has 25 years of experience providing value-added assurance and advisory services. Her focus has always been on providing quality customer service to help build long-lasting relationships. Over the years, Andrea has been invited to speak at industry conferences and seminars, including the BCBS Healthy Community institute, the NCACPA Not-for-Profit Conference, and Blackman & Sloop seminars.

Andrea was inspired to go into public accounting after her father encouraged her to take the CPA exam. She took her success in passing the exam as a sign that public accounting was the right career for her to pursue.

Andrea describes herself as optimistic and always trying to focus on the positive things in life. Like the saying goes, “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.” Her colleagues have given her the moniker of “positivity promoter extraordinaire”. It is this positivity, combined with the great foundation and work ethic her parents instilled in her, to which Andrea attributes to her success.

Andrea grew up in Roanoke Rapids, NC and currently resides in Raleigh, NC, with her husband, their four children and two dogs. When not serving her clients, she likes to spend time with her husband on the back of his motorcycle, enjoying the outdoors. Andrea also likes reading, exercising, participating in water sports and boating on Lake Gaston.
