Increase Cash Flow by Shifting Your Focus

What should be the chief focus of the owner or manager of an independent pharmacy? Lester Nathan, in a recent article for Pharmacy Times, explains that he believes that a pharmacy manager’s primary focus should be on building the business and increasing profits. How can one go about doing this? Nathan recommends the following steps:

  1. Ask Your Staff Members for Advice – Tap into the hidden talents and key insights of your staff members—it’s likely that they have a lot more to offer than you think!
  2. Free Up More of Your Time – Be an encourager to your team members. Motivated and engaged employees are more likely to participate actively and take on new responsibilities—both of which will free up more time for you to focus on growing your business. You might even consider designating an operations manager to take even more of the daily responsibilities out of your hands.
  3. Focus on Getting Organized – Working smarter, rather than harder, will help you achieve more.
  4. Take the Time to Prioritize – Don’t get overwhelmed by the small details. Pause, take a step back, and evaluate your priorities.
