Christy joined Blackman & Sloop in 2015 and currently serves as a business advisory manager focused on accounting services at the firm. In this role, she assists clients with a variety of services, including accounts payable, household employee payroll, payroll processing and tax compliance, accounting and bookkeeping, financial analysis and benchmarking, sales and use tax compliance, and 1099’s. She also provides outsourced CFO services and works with clients on the training and implementation of software. She is especially skilled at helping businesses organize their financial data.
Although she serves a variety of industries, Christy specializes in work with independent pharmacies, nonprofits, and retail stores. Additionally, she is a member of the firm’s COVID task force, data analytics team, and ERM group. Christy is known for her patience and love for learning. She continually “strives to provide exceptional service filled with meaningful information and ensure a mutual understanding of the task at hand.” She credits her success to her willingness to learn from others and a strong grasp of accounting principles.
Inspired by the quote, “To give real service you must add something which cannot be bought or measured with money, and that is sincerity and integrity,” by Douglas Adams, she feels this statement reflects her belief that ‘if one is not authentic when relating to customers then the transaction becomes one-sided, and the relationship is lost.’
Born in Long Island, Christy’s family moved to Delaware when she was six and then to North Carolina when she was 13. Currently a resident of Chapel Hill, she enjoys the area for the inspirational variety of goods and people that it offers—and for its great farmer’s markets! In her free time, Christy likes knitting, cooking, canning, gardening, spending time with husband, her cat, chickens, and growing herd of goats.
